MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Mixed Martial Arts or (MMA) is considered to be the fastest growing sport in the world. It is a full contact combat sport which allows a wide variety of fighting techniques and skills, from a wide spectrum of martial arts traditions and non-traditions. Techniques are taught and learnt for self defence and competition purposes.
The rules allow the use of striking techniques, such as Boxing, Thai-Boxing, Kick-Boxing etc. Grappling techniques such as Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo, are also utilised whilst standing and on the ground. Most MMA fights are held in a cage, but fights also commonly take place in boxing rings.
SUBMISSION WRESTLING
Submission Wrestling (also known as Submission Grappling or No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) is a combat sports which focuses on using technique over strength, the main techniques being an assortment of chokes, arm-locks and leg-locks.
Submission Wrestling focuses on the clinch and ground fighting with the aim of obtaining a submission using a variety of submission holds. The sport of submission wrestling brings together techniques from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Freestyle Olympic Wrestling, Judo and Sambo. Submission fighting is a huge element of mixed martial arts.
When combined with an affective striking system such as Thai-Boxing an individual becomes a great all round fighter that is more than capable of protecting ones self.
